The great titulaire organist of the church of St. Sulpice in Paris, Daniel Roth, is the focus of JAV's sixth volume of live Washington Cathedral concerts. Roth's performances are absolutely electrifying. His own Fantasie Fugue on Regina ceoli and a brilliant improvisation are heard between two Widor masterpieces - the Allegro from the Sixth Symphonie, and a particularily inspired performance of one of Roth's signature pieces, Widor's Symphonie Romane. JAV's artist interview here with M. Roth is notably in depth and informative.
