The organ builder Willem Hermans and the organ in Spirito Santo, Pistoia The organ of the Church of the Holy Spirit (Spirito Santo, formerly St. Ignazio) in Pistoia was built in 1664 by the organ maker Willem Hermans from the Southern Netherlands.The organ of Spirito Santo is preserved in excellent condition. Due to the great respect of the organ builders who maintained the organ in the past, it is largely in its original condition, and even the specification has never been altered: the reed stops are the oldest preserved in Italy! The restoration in 1995 was done by Riccardo Lorenzini from Montemurlo.

Bob van Asperen was born in Amsterdam in 1947. He is one of the most well known specialists of early music for harpsichord, clavichord and organ, and is also known as a conductor and musicologist. A regular guest at important festivals world wide, his recitals span virtually the whole repertoire of keyboard literature of the sixteenth to eighteenth centuries.

This disc will play on a standard CD player, but an SACD player is needed to hear it in Surround Sound. These CDs are considerablely more expensive to record, master and manufacture, this is the reason for the higher price. The the audio results are out of this world
