Hailed by the Chicago Tribune as one of the most supremely gifted young organists of his generation, Paul Jacobs came to national attention as a concert organist in 2000 when he twice performed the complete organ works of J.S. Bach in fourteen consecutive evenings, each in Philadelphia and New York City. Later that year, he trumped that achievement by performing the complete works again in a spectacular eighteen-hour non-stop marathon in Pittsburgh. In 2003 Mr. Jacobs was appointed to the faculty of the Juilliard School in New York City, making him one of the youngest persons ever invited to join that distinguished faculty.
A recitalist possessing a vast repertoire, Paul Jacobs has memorized the complete organ works of Brahms, Franck and Duruflé, much Messiaen---whose complete organ music he performed in six major cities across the United States in 2002--- Bach, and an impressive array of other literature. The recipient of many honors and awards, he was the first organist to receive the Harvard Musical Association's Arthur W. Foote Award. Mr. Jacobs has performed throughout North and South America, and in Europe and Australia. Currently, he is Organist and Choirmaster at Christ and St. Stephen's Church, New York City.
